Congratulations to Harold Kaiser for Receiving the First Lifetime Achievement Award presented by the Carmel Chamber of Commerce!!!

The Chamber’s newest award, the Harold Kaiser Award for Lifetime Achievement, was presented for the first time to recognize an individual who has made a lifetime commitment to business in the Carmel community. This year, the Chamber honored Harold Kaiser, the award’s ...namesake and one of the founders of the Carmel Chamber, for his devotion and enthusiasm for business, volunteer work, the city and the Chamber.

Harold’s efforts to start a chamber of commerce in Carmel in 1960, when the city’s population was just over 1,400, was put on hold when a small group of business people trying to launch the organization decided there weren’t enough businesses to support a chamber. Ten years later, when the population reached more than 6,500, the group successfully started the Carmel Chamber and Harold’s 41-year commitment to the Chamber began.

Among his many involvements in the business community are establishing Kaiser Real Estate in 1958 and serving as the first chair of the Hamilton County Realtors Association, a group he also helped to start. Harold is also committed to giving back to the Carmel community and began volunteering for St. Vincent Carmel Hospital when it opened, continuing that commitment until retiring in 2010.

Broker's Open at Stoney Creek Estates in Noblesville

Brad Gough is hosting a Broker's Open Tour at Stoney Creek Estates in Noblesville on Tuesday, November 15th from 11:30am to 1pm. An entree will be served at the first home and a dessert at the second.

Sellers Using Google & Social Media Against The Buyers

Sellers are using Google and social media siites to check out buyers who place offers on their home. Remember, the name of the buyer is on the purchase agreement.

With social media and the ease of access to personal information and postings, it's amazing what you can find out about the buyers who are writing an offer on your home. Savvy sellers can see your hot buttons and what your current situation is to evaluate your level of urgency.

This is also a note to buyers to be carefull what you post or have on social media sites while you are making offers on homes. We don't recommend that buyers post anything about the new house until after closing!!!

Example: If you (buyer) work 5 minutes from the house you are placing an offer on and there isn't much direct competition. Your facebook page say's, "I'm so excited about purchasing this home because it's close to work." This is a cue for the sellers to hold firm on the selling price. You may have cost yourself a few thousand dollars.

Keep your social media and online content a little less personal or you could be setting yourself for failure during negotiation.
